National Pizza Month

National Pizza Month was created in October 1984 by Gerry Durnell, the publisher of Pizza Today magazine and a pizzeria owner in Santa Claus, Indiana, to support the growing pizza industry. The U.S. Congress officially designated October as National Pizza Month in 1987. It was designed to highlight the culinary and cultural impact of pizza, encourage trying new flavor combinations, and drive business to local and national pizzerias.
